Report number 3 |
G'day ... how are you ?
We are fine. Here's the story what happened in Sydney: We decided not to go to the most beautiful beach in the area (no sun anyway) and do a sightseeing to all the famous places in the city. Nice places like Observatory Hill with it's great view of the Harbour and the town, the Rocks Market with life music from the pub and a walk across the Harbour Bridge. And not so nice places like Austrlian Square (boring) and the entertaintment near the Opera house (what entertaintment?) So it was time to change Sydney for a more adventurous place with loads of snakes and poisenous spiders .... the Blue Mountains! During the trip to Katoomba it was raining, so it was on our first walk to the Katoomba Falls. But they don't call it a rainforest for nothing. Because we didn't want to walk the 1000 steps up again from the waterfalls we took the "steepest railway" back (55% incline). The next days the weather changed into lovely and sunny and we could do some serious hiking. A daywalk to the Wentworth Falls and the Valley of the Waters, and a trip into the Grand Canyon. Beautiful rainforest, nice tracks (all neatly cut out off the rocks by the prisoners?) and the wildlife. We met a reptile (lizard? crocodile?), the first (!!!) fly, a little snake (size of a worm) and lots of coloured birds. For those who are interested in who is winning the games: The last days luck changed in favour of Hana. One day Bart ended up cooking diner, do the dishes, bringing tea to the bed and making breakfast. Finally justice. On the last day we had before leaving the mountains we walked in the most famous site around Katoomba: the Three Sisters. We climbed down the Giant Stairs, hiked for 2 hours and took the Golden Stairs up again. For the second time we got a lift home ... all Ozies are nice! Our hostel is filled with wonderfull people so we had lost of opportunity to learn new things like travel for one year and Jogling! Hana learned how to jogle 3 balls in 5 minutes (and 2 evenings). The dutch song "Busje komt zo" became a number one hit in the hostel. We expect it to spread all over Katoomba and West Australia. Today we go to a wild life park, so finally Hana can hug a Kangaroo. Next stop will be Byron Bay, the famous surfers spot, so time to get out the swimsuits and suncream number 30. Love Hana & Bart |
